Loft conversions have always been acknowledged as a fantastic way to add value onto your home, but the latest Nationwide Survey has shown that you can add up to 21% onto the value of your home.
Building a loft conversion can add more value than simply an additional bedroom and adds floor space by between 10% and 30%.
The study shows that developing the attic can add £37,000 onto the value of the home when compared to similar properties in the same area, and can help you sell faster.
While the survey was across the UK, Londoners have reported adding even more onto their property as space in the city is at a premium. Reports in The Guardian include stories of £270,000 to the value of a home through a mixture of home improvements (including loft conversions) and simply owning the house while prices increased in the area.
